Abstract
The purpose of this study is to explore what protagonists perceive as therapeutic factors of psychodrama by using the concept mapping research method. Additionally, this study focuses on the protagonists` perception of importance of therapeutic factors of psychodrama, and the level of practice in the real situation. For this study 13 protagonists were interviewed on the matter of therapeutic factors of psychodrama, and key ideas were extracted and collected from the interviews. Selected were 97 final statements of protagonists. Based on these statements, multidimensional scaling and hierarchical cluster analysis were conducted, and dimensions and categories were drawn from. Protagonists rated the importance and practice level of psychodrama`s therapeutic factors. The results of this study show that the concept map of protagonists consisted of 2 dimensions and 10 categories. Protagonists perceived the therapeutic factors of psychodrama as a ``others-me`` dimension and a ``recognition-act`` dimension. The 10 categories were comprised of ``meaningful relationship with the director``, ``group cohesiveness``, ``working alliance``, ``self disclosure facilitation``, ``self-understanding``, ``integration of self-awareness``, ``the restructuring of concepts``, ``the expanding of roles``, ``catharsis``, and ``acting out``. As the results of rating on the importance of therapeutic factors and the level of practice, it turned out that there were the largest gap in the category of ``catharsis``, and the smallest gap in the category ``self disclosure facilitation``. So far, psychodrama has been considered as a therapeutic factor of verbal counseling, but this study explains psychodrama`s therapeutic factors through empirical analysis.
